Dermal Fillers
Unfortunately as we mature so does our skin. Overtime the connective tissue that gives fullness to the skin becomes less elastic and loses some element of its water base. This results in lines and hollows.
The aging process causes a slow down in the production of elastin and collagen so that as we get older these areas of over use become damaged and the lines become permanent.
Dermal fillers are used to soften and contour lines, folds, and wrinkles, adding volume and giving a more youthful appearance.

Several different molecules have been used over the years. However we use the current safest form which is Non Animal Stabilised Hyaluronic Acid (NASHA).
This molecule is a naturally occurring polysaccharide that is found in the connective tissue throughout the human body. Apart from NASHA’s safety profile, it has been shown to have long-lasting predictable results.
For safety (reduced incidence of hypersensitivity reactions) and commercial reasons – these products are now manufactured via bacterial fermentation.
Dermal fillers have a different mechanism of action to Botox.
The NASHA molecule is used to fill from fine to deep lines. NASHA remains in situ for many months and attracts water to the surrounding area, thus plumping and adding volume to lines and hollows. There are different subtleties between one product and another. The appropriate filler is used for your specific area of concern*. The dermal fillers we usually use are Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm, Belotero & Teosyal.
Our goal is yours – to make a younger, fresher, brighter looking you.
Some patients have reported discomfort during the few seconds whilst the product is injected via a very fine needle. For this reason a local anaesthetic is applied to numb the treatment area.
The positive effects are apparent almost immediately and last on average for 6 -12 months in most patients.
